The Hackfest blog is now Hackfest Media, at a new address: media.hackfest.ca. Same community, same straight talk, but a bigger ambition: to be the place where Québec’s information security community gets the news, debates and meets.
Every article published since 2009 is still here, and old links still work. Every article is published in French and in English.
What you’ll find here
Articles are sorted into eight categories:
- News & opinion: local cyber news and where we stand.
- Ransomware: the attacks and the criminal groups targeting Québec and Canada.
- Vulnerabilities: vulnerability analyses, disclosures and fixes.
- Leaks & privacy: data leaks, passwords and personal information.
- Policy & regulation: laws, regulators and government decisions.
- Tools & projects: projects and tools published by the community.
- Walkthroughs & CTF: solutions to challenges and training rooms.
- Cryptography & puzzles: ciphers, riddles and puzzles.
Our social media, in one place
The comments and opinions we post on our social networks will now be published here too. A thread on LinkedIn or Mastodon fades fast. Here it stays, with its sources, and it’s easy to find, quote and share.
The securite.fm podcast
Important clips and standout episodes of the securite.fm podcast will also have their place on Hackfest Media, with the context and links to dig deeper.
Sponsor Hackfest Media
Hackfest Media can be sponsored. Want to support an independent outlet and reach Québec’s information security community directly? Packages and prices are on the Sponsor page.
